Ouch. As consumers return to vacations and continue their “revenge travel,” hotel prices have risen exponentially, particularly in popular locations such as Las Vegas and Hawaii. That’s why I was so surprised to see this bargain at one of those destinations, the Hyatt Waikiki.
A Bargain Rate at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki, Including Breakfast and a Resort Credit
This is one of the best deals that I’ve seen for Hawaii, particularly since prices for travel have gone so crazy. There’s tons of availability in the fall, which falls into the “shoulder season,” but that simply means that the kids are back in school, so there will be fewer families and less demand. That just means the weather is great and you’ll have more space at the beach.
Hyatt Privé Benefits Enhance the Deal
Hyatt offers special deals through participating travel agents with its Privé program. You’ll typically receive the same rate as if you booked online, but you’ll be entitled to extra perks, which vary a bit based on the brand and the location. This property happens to have a two-night minimum length of stay for Privé Benefits.
Note this “same rate” is equivalent to the “standard rate.” (The member rate and promotional rates like AAA “might” be slightly lower.) I will do a full post on Privé at a later date, but the Hyatt Regency Waikiki is pretty standard. Your additional amenities include:
- Full breakfast for two people per room (daily, per room)
- $100 USD Property Credit (per stay, per room)
- A welcome amenity
- VIP Hyatt Privé Status at the property
- Free WiFi
- An upgrade, subject to forecasted occupancy. Your travel agent can put in a request and should receive a response within 48 hours. I received a note from one reader who booked the cheapest room but was upgraded a few levels to an ocean view.
- Early Check-In (if available on the day of arrival)
Most of the major chains and luxury properties have similar programs. Check with your agent or TravelZork Travel, a preferred Hyatt Privé luxury travel agent.
A Note on Pricing
The best rate that I could find was $265++. The “++” indicates that there are taxes and, of course, the ever-annoying resort fee. But given how low the base price is, the deal is still an excellent one.

“4-star” but an ugly concrete tower block(s). No ones favorite. Off peak is cheap in Hawaii. Always check everyone’s favorite the Sheraton 1st.
I actually like the Hyatt, as the hotel really starts on the 2nd story, so you don’t have hoards of people marching through the lobby. Diamond Head Tower ocean view rooms have incredible views. The Regency Club hopefully is still staffed by some of the loveliest people ever. Sadly, most of the better restaurants have closed over the years, and the new owners installed cheap furniture in the rooms & not much you can do about the baths, but at least a double sink dressing area.

How are you able to search Prive rates? I thought you had to go through an agent — did they screen lowest dates over a year for you? I did notice a couple OTAs offer online searches, but they didn’t seem very comprehensive.
