Testing Out Agoda.com’s “Points Max” Hotel Booking…

This week I tested out Agoda’s new “Points Max” program, which rewards hotel bookings with airline miles. Unlike other programs it has an interesting niche, which I found to be of good value. Whereas competitors like RocketMiles and Kaligo only offer rates slightly higher to account for the airline miles you receive, points max allows you to choose the amount of miles you’ll receive, sliding the rate up and down based on the miles. If you wish to pay the lowest rate, you’ll get somewhere around 1,000 miles for free, whereas for roughly $50 more, you could get about 4,000 miles or more. I’ll be writing about the proposition in more detail, but I enjoyed the experience, found excellent rates, especially in Asia where Agoda is very strong and am happy with my free miles that came with it…

2,500 FREE SPG Points If You Hold Their Credit Card…

Starwood Preferred Guest points are arguably the most valuable loyalty currency of any airline or hotel because you can convert them into airline miles with virtually any airline or use them toward very nice hotels within the SPG collection. If you hold the brand’s personal credit card (Amex), you can get 2,500 points for adding an authorized user to your account. An authorized user is generally a family member or spouse who can then make charges on your account. If you have someone you trust, 2,500 points are definitely worth it! New IHG Points Breaks 5,000 Points Or $35 Per Night Hotels…

Just about any travel expert will tell you that the single greatest “bargain” redemption out there are IHG “Points Breaks” offerings. Every few months a new list of hotels are added which for the promotional period require only 5,000 IHG points per night, which you could actually buy for $35 if you didn’t have any. The hotels aren’t generally very high end, but they encompass most of the world and are definitely of value to some. If you want to understand more on how IHG points breaks work, and how to book CLICK HERE. If you want to just see the new list of hotels, CLICK HERE.
