Iberia Plus is the lesser known Avios program, but it’s one worth knowing, and knowing well. Right now, they’re offering 50% off the number of miles you’d typically need to fly anywhere, and that brings flat bed business class, perhaps even on the new Airbus A350, for just 17,000 points one way, or 34,000 points round trip.

In fact, every Iberia flight is half off using Avios, even for intra Europe.

The best thing is, you can convert Amex, Chase or British Airways Points into Iberia Plus Avios, and the taxes are under $100 one way. This is social distancing on a plane done right, and cheap…

17,000 Point Flat Bed Business Class

It’s a nice time to enjoy a little extra space on a plane, and for 17,000 points and $81 one way in taxes, or 34,000 and a couple hundred round trip, that’s almost as easily done, as said. Again, all flights are half off, we’re just highlighting an epic deal.

Iberia Plus is offering a 50% discount on all flights booked through August 31st, 2020 for travel up to March 31st, 2021.

The concept is fairly simple: find availability on Iberia, spend your Iberia Plus Avios, or transfer some credit card points into Iberia Avios, and then spend said Avios. You can go beyond Spain, but each extra flight will add a few miles to the price, not that you really care when it’s half off. West Coast USA also adds a few miles too. Even if you want to stay within Europe, that also has 50% off.

There’s a few things to keep in mind…

  • The discount only applies on actual Iberia flights.
  • You must use Iberia Avios, not British Airways or Aer Lingus Avios.
  • You need availability using points in business class.
  • You must book these flights by August 31st, so time is ticking.

That’s great on its own, but Iberia’s flexibility policy makes these bookings even more lucrative. If Iberia cancels your flight, you’d be able to move to pretty much any date, regardless of availability. If you need to change, you should be able to move to any other dates if availability exists, penalty free.

Transferring Points To Iberia Plus

Iberia Plus is a direct transfer partner of American Express and Chase, which can often be easier than moving Avios between your Avios accounts. If you don’t already have an Iberia account, simply create one, find availability and transfer points. Points transfers can take 24 hours, but in typical experience they’re instant, particularly if your account was already active.

If you have British Airways Avios you’d like to transfer to Iberia, you can do that, as long as you have the same exact name and email address on both accounts. Those transfers happen quickly too.

Finding Iberia Availability

You’ll need an Iberia Plus account to search availability, but you’ll need one to book anyway. Once you have your account info handy, go to this website, which takes you directly to the booking page. Search for flights, which may in fairness take a bit of time, and when you find something, get excited.

Flights will initially appear as 34,000 points one way in business class, but once you select the flight, and head to the screen before payment, you’ll see the price drop, with a breakdown of options. You can even use fewer points and more cash.

Now is a great time to have something exciting on the horizon, and paying fewer points for business class than most people pay for economy is something to smile about. Those flat beds with extra space feel better than ever right now, and there’s not a lot of reason to save the points, when deals are this good…

  1. As reported on Head for Points, the passenger needs to be a resident of Spain to get this offer. Anyone with an Iberia Plus account that doesn’t have an address in Spain or a card issued by a Spanish bank will not be able to get this offer.

Unless you have found a way around it! 😉

  2. I had to fill out a Spanish adres is my profile to see the discount. Don’t know what would happen if you change it back after booking.

  3. Wouldn’t you know it, BA website is having technical issues. Trying to transfer Avios points from BA to Iberia Plus.

  4. I’ve been trying to transfer AVios points between BA and Iberia and the website continues with this message:

I tried going through Iberia to transfer points and got the same message. Anyone else having issues?

    1. The BA issue was happening to me but going through Iberia worked fine. Have you tried changing browser? I did that initially and it cleared the BA issue but then wouldn’t recognise password for Iberia. However going via Iberia worked fine. I used Chrome.
