The 50% discount unlocks a beautiful cherry on top, of an already great trick. Departing from Rio De Janeiro, Seoul and Hong Kong, surcharges are illegal. British Airways website says: “It is not possible to book online flights or upgrades, departing from Brazil, using Avios or Gold vouchers. Please call your local contact centre to do this.”
