Although all flights will route via Doha, Qatar Airways is one of the airlines really pushing to bring point to point travel, taking passengers precisely where they want to go in one connection or less. They’re not just taking passengers to hub cities like Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok, they’re launching direct routes to Langkawi, Chiang Mai, and now – Osaka. The “open jaw” has long been a favourite travel trick for many, where you never back track, simply flying into one city and out of another. Qatar Airways new Osaka route would potentially allow for passengers to fly into Osaka, or Tokyo, and fly out of the other, simply connecting the dots with a separate internal flight or bullet train ride. Osaka is regarded as the food capital of Japan and is the second largest metropolitan city, with incredible castles and markets all around.

Perfect Time For The Olympics

If you’re going to launch a new route, with seats you’d obviously like to fill, doing so ahead of one of the most anticipated Olympics games certainly isn’t a bad way to start. There just aren’t many ways to get to Osaka with one stop unless you’re in a major international gateway presently served by a Japanese airline, so this gives many more regional departure points one stop access to Osaka via Doha. As always, you can use miles from Qatar, British Airways, American, Cathay Pacific and other great currencies to book, in addition to good ole’ cash.
