After arduous research I pinned Grosvenor House Apartments operated by Jumeirah Living for a central London stay. For those not familiar with the property it is situated in Mayfair on a corner of Park Lane in a rather idyllic location. If you, like me, find that the sheer sight of crowds make you see red this is your place. The hotel is like a fast track lane through the heart of London. Close enough to see everyone on Oxford Street but far enough from the masses to enjoy a quiet stroll through Berkeley and Grosvenor Squares.

Grosvenor House Apartments is listed as a five star property that commands five star prices and fortunately it delivered six star service. Check-in was a seamless process. The hotel has a “soft” lobby on the ground floor where guests are greeted and somewhat screened to ensure that they are in the right place before being escorted to the second floor for the official check in. I found this to be far more advantageous than pretentious as it helped keep traffic to a minimum and a feeling of tranquility in the main space.

Check-in was a uniquely perfect experience. A welcome glass of champagne was sent to our room while Mohamed courteously checked us in and ensured we were fully aware of the benefits offered to us. After signing in we were personally escorted to our room and given a tour of its facilities and advanced technologies. Upon arrival we found macaroons, olives, popcorn and two delicious glasses of champagne and a beautiful room. What a way to start the day!

The room was clean, modern, tasteful and efficient. Self drawing blinds, nespresso machine, cooking facility, jacuzzi tub, shower, dining table and premium cable. The lighting in the room was arranged into four “scenes” ranging from full black out, dark and moody to full light which was extremely clever but did cause me to put on a bit of a light show at 2 in the morning… Oh well.

When booking any hotel at this price point benefits are essential to justifying the stay. We booked our reservation through the American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts Program for Platinum Card Members. The program provided for exceptional benefits during our stay including: early check in, late check out, room upgrade, complimentary dinner for two and a separate $100 food and beverage credit. Who doesn’t like a free dinner?

Its very hard to write a review when you have nothing but praise. At the Grosvenor House Apartments by Jumeirah Living we were treated like royalty even though the real royals were across the hall (which was neat). Service makes or breaks a hotel and this property offered the most comprehensive and professional service that I have experienced to date. I found that the staff offered themselves and predicted your needs rather than relying on you to make requests which made this surreal experience feel very natural. No need or request was left unfulfilled. I Highly recommend this property as an idyllic home away from home in one of the worlds greatest cities. Five Stars.
