Tis the season of giving, which means we could all use a bit of savings! Today we’ve got two excellent opportunities to score meaningful discounts on flights, points and even rides to or from the airport. If that wasn’t exciting enough, GSTP was on TV twice this week spreading travel knowledge and fighting for fairness against an airline… oh and a possible airline strike!

Today Only 75% Off JetBlue Points…

JetBlue offers a very straightforward loyalty program. For a start, your points have a fairly decent set value and can be used on any flight. Next, many of their flights require very few points, even their longer flights like New York to Los Angeles can be as low 8,500 points one way. Today only the airline is selling their points and you can max out their purchase limit to score 52,250 points for just $825. You can of course purchase smaller amounts as well. Flights to many other top cities start at just 4,500 points or less, so having 52,250 points can be a pretty fabulous deal! Buy points here.

$25 Off Groundlink Car Service

Uber is always our goto for airport rides, but occasionally when we need to plan ahead or arrive somewhere that Uber does not exist, we use Groundlink. The company is a more traditional car service experience with professional drivers, the ability to schedule rides well in advance and competitive pricing. For the holidays they are offering $25 off all rides, which is a meaningful savings. Sign up and book your ride here and enter promo code GL25DEC for $25 of all rides before December 31st.

GSTP TV Appearances…

In my battle for fairness against American Airlines I went on Fox News this week to discuss their (lack) of customer service. The segment got interesting when they claimed they had refunded me. Something they had never mentioned until that moment and something to this moment I still have not received. Link Here.

Coincidentally, my American Airlines incident happened on the way back from taping the other program I appeared on this week, The Doctors on CBS. This was a far more tame appearance, talking great holiday travel apps. It was a blast to participate and the show was a pleasure to work with. I got to talk about three personal favorites, Hipmunk, Rome2Rio and GateGuru. Link Here.

British Airways Mixed Crew Threatening Strike…

British Airways Mixed Crew, which is essentially the union for all newer BA hires is threatening to strike if their wages aren’t raised. With an opening salary of just £12,000 per year the crew are paid far less than other more senior British Airways unions and don’t enjoy the same on the job perks like upgraded hotels that the longer standing unions may use.  I understand where they are coming from here. For London living it’s tough to make due on such a salary At the same time, as someone scheduled to fly December 21st with British Airways, the day the strikes are said to possibly begin if mediation is not reached, I hope that they can continue their fight without screwing up my Christmas. Good luck to all involved.
