Time is money and patience is limited. With those principles in mind, rather than churn out separate posts about small, but meaningful news, we’ll summarize a few interesting and valuable tidbits. It’s always great to see a sale, some new flights and some business class deals…

Virgin Atlantic Award Sale

For some, this is more exciting than others. We’re seeing amazing paid economy prices between the US and Europe (vice versa) and with that in mind, using miles for economy flights and still paying high taxes on them kinda kills the buzz. In the sale, available for most of the calendar year in Economy and Premium Economy, you’ll require 30% less miles and the same amount of taxes. Assuming taxes of around $500, and 25,000 miles round trip at the discounted rate, you’ll want to be sure that if you were paying cash you’d be paying more than $750 or the equivalent in Great British Pounds. If not, it’s a bad deal. Premium Economy might be a useful deal however. Give it a look

British Airways Starting Stansted Flights

Viva la beach. British Airways is launching weekend only service to Malaga, Palma, Ibiza and Faro from Stansted, to keep these tropical destinations in motion, while London City sits quiet on weekends. So yes, if you’re looking to hit one of these destinations on the weekend, this is British Airways dipping into the game, providing convenient access from Stansted. Since the same planes that fly to and from London City all week will fly this route, the real question is if British Airways will allow you to book a flight from London City to Stansted. That’s a quick commute…

Etihad Airways Business Deal

I wrote a detailed post on Qatar Airways business class deals and sadly, South Africa was largely missing from the plot. Etihad appears to have picked up the slack, offering €1580 round trip business class flights to Cape Town for most of the year from Amsterdam. You’ll even experience their incredible business class seat on the 787 Dreamliner along part of the journey each way. It’s a bargain!
