Some of the best frequent flyer tips do sound a bit too good to be true, and I do believe that we are all pre conditioned to simply turn away. The problem with that is that some of the greatest tips are very real, very easy and save you a fortune. This is one of them. Whenever you book a hotel, airline ticket or vacation, with very very few exceptions, you should first click from one of these cash back sites. In case the plot is eluding you, they give you cash back.
Much like earning miles for shopping by clicking from an airline site, you’ll earn cash back on every hotel or airline booking, even direct with the airline by first clicking through the TopCashBack, Ebates or FatWallet portals. The cash back percentages can range from 1%-16% but no matter what, you’re getting cash back, you’re still earning miles from your airline and you can still even buy direct, you just make one extra click.
Once you’ve clicked one of the portals above, you can search for your airline or just travel in general. I generally recommend to look at the travel category, as it will show you all the possible booking sites and how much cash back they are offering for your booking. As a travel tip, assuming the price is exactly the same, I find it’s always better to book direct with the airline, unless you’re missing significant cash back. By booking direct it’s much easier to change, upgrade and or cancel your reservation. If your plans are set and someone is offering 10% cash back, I’d consider booking through someone like Expedia, Orbitz, CheapFlights etc.
Lets say you book a $1000 vacation or flight, at 10% cash back, you’d be getting $100 back. I swear it’s just that easy. In fact, when you inevitably try it and enjoy it, you can get between $5-$15 (same for £) just for referring friends to the site, whichever one you choose. I certainly don’t mind my friends sticking money in my pockets while saving them money!
