We’ll keep things short, because it’s good news.

Iberia turned heads over the last two weeks with an exciting promotion offering bonus Avios points for every Iberia flight you booked. At first glance, the promotion seemed so enticing, we held off even writing about it! But shortly after initial headlines appeared, Iberia confirmed to GSTP that the promotion was in fact real, and as generous as some hoped, and perhaps even a bit more generous. Iberia has now come back to us, confirming the news everyone has hoped for…

Coming Hours, Days…

We’ve been in direct contact with Iberia, and the news is good news. We asked: The 9,000 bonus Avios per flight were due to be deposited yesterday but there are no reports of any arriving as of yet. Are they still expected to be deposited imminently? To which Iberia responded: The period to add those Avios was 10 days, so we haven’t reached the deadline yet. We are going to add them in the coming hours/days”.

Great News Indeed

This is great news, indeed. Iberia has officially confirmed the promotion and a seemingly imminent delivery of all bonafide bonus points. In a separate question posed to Iberia, we asked about the “locked” or “frozen” accounts. Customers have been asked to simply verify their identities, much as we suggested in our previous follow up. Anyone with legitimate accounts, made by and for real people will be unlocked swiftly, and should find the desired points deposited in a very reasonable amount of time.

What’s The Backstory?

We couldn’t help but ask why Iberia would offer such an attractive promotion – and while we don’t yet have an answer, we’re told that more will be shared in the coming days, as data is collated. It’s fair to say you’re now all part of a giant spreadsheet of people who value Avios more than cash, which may or may not be a wise strategy, depending on the day!

Is this the sigh of relief you were looking for?
