You’ve undoubtedly seen the viral videos: luggage handlers practicing for Olympic Discus glory with our collective precious luggage. Every day luggage is kicked, thrown, lost, dented and put through the kind of torture we wouldn’t wish on our enemies. Some baggage handlers even intentionally send luggage to the wrong destination! Not in Japan. Over the last week a video went viral in a different way, further highlighting the brilliance of travel in Japan.

The shock to most people is that there’s a person dedicated to cleaning passenger luggage. It’s wonderful, its unique and if you care about your luggage investment, it’s very appreciated! Can you even imagine the baggage handlers at a busy US airport doing the same? As if! But did you notice the other marvel of this video? In most Japanese airports, all luggage is delivered onto the conveyor belt with the handles facing outward toward the customer, making it easy and efficient to grab luggage and go. And in reality, this is only one of about 10 fascinating things you’ll only find when flying in Japan. Curious about the others? Head here.

Have you traveled in Japan? Did you notice any of this?
